Zero Energy – A Foundation of Resilient Communities

October 17, 2019, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

In this event, hosted by Zero Energy Ready Oregon for Sustainable Building Week, participants will gain a better understanding for how designing to meet zero energy standards at the community level can make neighborhoods more resilient during extreme weather events, natural disasters and in the face of climate change.

At The Oaks Zero Energy Community at Rose Villa Senior Living, sustainably-minded residents live out their environmental values among a welcoming culture that embraces and celebrates diversity.

The Oaks, which was named after the majestic Oak tree that was preserved and is central to the site, allows for independent living while encouraging connection. Comprised of 12 super-efficient craftsman-style homes built around a shared courtyard, The Oaks can produce all its own energy through on-site solar panels. Residents enjoy fresh, clean healthy indoor air, comfortable indoor temperatures during all seasons, and low maintenance. The Oaks is Portland’s first zero energy community serving the senior housing market.

In this moderated panel discussion, representatives from Green Hammer and Rose Villa — including residents — will share some of the considerations made and lessons learned when designing and building The Oaks. They will share some of the ways in which their next collaboration, Trillium Townhomes Zero Energy Neighborhood, will be similar and different.

This free event includes networking, a moderated panel discussion, Q&A and tours. Light refreshments will be provided.

We have a limited number of tickets available for this event so reserve your spot now and if you reserve a spot and can’t make it please cancel to free up your spot.
