LatinoBuilt is excited to be a host for Sustainable Building Week! Join us in this session to learn about the Core Concepts of Green Building. In this session we will demystify what Green Building is all about. We will also explore growing markets driven by this building science backed concept. You will walk out from this course, confident you know about Green Building and how it fits into the design build process & your role in the industry today.
Who is welcome:
Everyone! Anyone interested to learn about or a refresher about Green Building. Architects, designers, engineers, contractors, developers, non industry related folks, + others. LatinoBuilt is a trade association focused on contractors, so we will specifically talk about the role of Contractor Businesses. We are LatinoBuilt, so expect a little Spanish cross over depending on our audience. Gracias!

LatinoBuilt is a Non-profit Organization with the broad mission of educating, empowering, and advocating for Latino-Owned Construction Businesses. Overcoming systemic barriers and building community. We represent the Latino Minority group within the construction sector in the public agenda conversations.
Presenter: Adrián Arenas- LatinoBuilt
Adrián Arenas, Green Program Manager, is a bilingual and bicultural staff lead at LatinoBuilt. Adrián holds a Bachelor’s of Architecture from Universidad La Salle, and has spent the past 6 years in the sustainable design and construction field. He holds a LEED AP BD+C credential from USGBC and has worked as a consultant on several LEED Commercial projects in Mexico City and as well as Multnomah County, Oregon partnering with local firm EcoREAL Solutions. He has also developed and led two educational programs with AECOM, “The Fundamentals of Green Building” and “Green Construction Requirements.” Helping large developers such as AECOM, incorporate sustainability into their development process. Through his experience, Arenas has learned the principles of Construction Management as it relates to Green Building. Arenas has experience working holistically with project teams. From Architecture & Engineering teams, to General Contractors, subcontractors and Project owners. Ensuring sustainability goals are met throughout all project phases. Arenas is a highly engaged advocate for Sustainability in our Built Environment, locally & globally.
Secondary Presenter: Ozzie Gonzalez – LatinoBuilt ED
Ozzie González is an urban ecologist and relentless changemaker. Educated with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and a Master’s in Architecture, Ozzie has dedicated his career to designing and building solutions that bridge environmental health with community prosperity. Over the course of his professional career, Ozzie has helped re-define the role capital projects play in creating an equitable and sustainable world. Ozzie currently serves as the District 2 Representative on the Trimet Board of Directors where he sponsored the 2020 Transit Oriented Development Policy and has been a vocal advocate for a zero carbon service network. He also serves on the Advisory Board for the Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs and has served on the boards of the Regional Arts & Culture Council, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and on technical advisory committees with the United States Green Building Council.
