Collective action has never been more important if we are to limit global warming caused by carbon emissions to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s 1.5°C target. While AE teams have committed for years to reducing operational emissions to meet AIA 2030, significant progress is often limited to higher profile projects with sustainability-minded clients. Embodied carbon commitments like SE 2050 and MEP 2040 are more recent developments and our industry is still in the early stages of having reliable EPDs, developing building benchmarks, and having strong tools and processes to accurately account for embodied carbon. At the same time, there is a rise in AE firm sustainability groups committed to advancing action and collaborating even outside the project sphere.
Join Scott Edwards Architecture, KPFF, and PAE for a presentation and discussion exploring how multidisciplinary teams can best work together on projects and within our industry to get to the goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Each firm will discuss effective steps they have taken toward the goal of net carbon neutrality and share innovative tools, processes, ideas, and challenges faced in design and implementation. Please join us for this at Scott Edwards Architecture Headquarters, an adaptive reuse of the firm’s existing office and mass timber/ CLT expansion.
*This presentation is offered for (1) AIA HSW CEU and CEU/PDH credit for engineers.
